The Black Range Land Management Group works to improve the biodiversity, conservation and resilience of the Black Range environment.
We support our fellow landholders and partner with organisations to work together to develop understanding and improve management of this landscape ecology.
More about us
We seek to learn with and be guided by Tradition Owners to care for this unceded land. We acknowledge the deep connection that Aboriginal custodians hold with this Country, and respect their cultural knowledge, their obligations of caring for Country, and their land management practices. We pay our respects to their ancestors and to elders past present and emerging.

Traditional owners

Today there are two groups that represent Aboriginal Traditional Owners of the Black Range area to whom we pay our respects: Barengi Gadjin Land Council Aboriginal Corporation, and Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation.

About the traditional owners

The Black Range

The Black Range is of high cultural heritage significance to its Traditional Owners, most notably for Bunjil's Shelter, home to the only known rock art depiction of the Aboriginal creator spirit Bunjil.
